EKOPET is the largest enterprise for the production and sale of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) in Russia and Eastern Europe. PET is used for the production of PET bottles and cans, food containers and packaging, as well as for other industrial and household products.

The rated capacity of the PET plant is 220 thousand tons per year. One of the most state-of-the-art technologies, MTR (Melt-To-Resin) developed by the German company UhdeInventa-Fischer (UIF) is used for PET production.

The acquisition of EKOPET will make it possible to implement the Company's plans for the development of the petrochemical business most efficiently and will contribute to the achievement of TATNEFT Group's goals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the value chain.

The signing of legally binding documents for the deal is expected in the upcoming weeks.

ZENIT Bank acted as an M&A consultant for the transaction.

AzatBikmurzin, Director of the petrochemical complex of Tatneft:

“We are happy that such a modern enterprise will become a part of TATNEFT Group. Ekopet products are in great demand and hold a stable position in the market.

We are confident that this asset will allow TATNEFT to fill in the missing link in the chain from the feedstock producer to the end consumer, as well as to use this site for further development of petrochemical plants".
